What to know before getting started
Finasteride is for men only and should not be used by women or children. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle broken or crushed tablets. In clinical trials, 1.2% to 1.8% of men reported sexual side effects (decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, decreased ejaculate volume) versus 1% on placebo. New or worsening depressive symptoms have also been reported.
